It's not all black or white. You are free to pick what you respect and what you don't like (Klovis)
Let me give you some examples :
> I hate Napoleon for is political opinions.
> I love him for his personal history (from corporal to general to emperor)
> I adore him for the empire he built and for what he gave to France
Another example :
> I hate Nazi Germany because they invaded my country.
> I don't like their ideology as a whole.
> But I like the dynamic behind the ideology (pure nationalism, the end justify the means)
> I hate Adolf Hitler for his weakness and his sins
> But I respect him for his personal history and his faith in his people.
> I don't like the NDSAP for his ideas
> But I admire it for its discipline and its aesthetics.
> And, even if I hated ALL of Germany, I would still respect the fact that it was the last time a true nationalism ever existed. It is the turning point.
What I want to point out is that you don't have to spit on Americans, to support the Wermacht. Etc..
You can defend America as a nation, defend the memory of your forefathers. But still, aknowledge the fact that Germany had a dignity and was the last embodiment of true nationalism.
It's not all black or white. You are free to pick what you respect and what you don't like.
But in the end there is always one question : from a purely objective and absolute perspective, during this past period, who was embodying the more our ideas and ideals ?
The answer is obvious. But because its obvious, it doesn't mean you are disrespecting your own nation or that you must support all what this side did.
