However the case itself is more interessant than the reality of the case.
The fact is, French leftists and French Jews literally created a nationwide campaign with press, money, politics, to influence opinion / judge and to prove he was innocent. And it worked.
No matter if he was or not innocent, it means they have the power to transform and change our opinion. To influence society deeply.
It was literally during the Dreyfus Case that modern democracy was born.
-> meaning : the one who has power over media has power over perceptions. The one who control perceptions, control votes. The one who own votes, own the power.
It was born during the Dreyfus Case, the press campaign being the first use of spin doctors and influence.
This is really a complex topic for non-french. So hardcore to explain. But yes just remember that : no matter if he was guilty or not, this whole case proved us that public opinion can be manipulated with enough power. And that some people have this power.
